Bettermaker BM60 part 2: What I Missed
This was going to be a very short video in which I demonstrated that two instances of BM60 with the same settings didn't null due to the Lexicon style reverb tail modulation. But then they did null, and this became a much longer video...

A Totally Biased Review of the Kirchhoff EQ
EQ B has a boost around 4k to 5k - that's the difference, no preference.
"Fundamentally better" doesn't apply over the board. Even Unix or macOS can have blind spots when it comes to certain areas. macOS seems to currently try to simplify things so much that it makes it hard to use for power users demanding maximum quality. Personally, I would be tempted by the M1, M2, Mx Mac Mini systems now due to their amazingly low power consumption and small form factor, assuming you know how to avoid any CoreAudio processing.
when you mute the return channels you sound like Santana
How does the ProQ 3 not cramp without the oversampling exactly? What brute force trick are they using?
The Plugin-Alliance SSL E channel is WAY ahead of this. It has a usable input/output scheme.
That was pretty lame of them
If you remove 16.7% of the water in a glass, or even 83.3%, it's still a glass of water.
Love you, Dan!
DBX Type I emulation sounds so much better.
I haven't tested this on Logic Compressor yet. Anyone know if they implemented the mix knob correctly?
Please make a video for plugin of Mia Laboratories Pi&Phi ✌✌
What blooms away is the information Dan holds back to enable us to absorb the point he is making. I don't think most people comprehends the amount of information Dan is throwing out for free.
Superb vid
Thank you so much Dan! I appreciate the help
Hey guys quick question. What does cramping mean in EQs? Does it that the high frequencies are very harsh?

@@DanWorrall thank you so much, you’re the best ❤️
it may sound fun on your phone, but on big sound systems like festival ones, it will be so bad that you might reconsider everything in life
Could you give us a few videos on how to mix bass/drums/guitar/keys/other, for vintage vibes…perhaps, how to sound like: 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s…tips & tricks for recreating the vibes of those decades…
Why is it called "The Oven" if you of in the cold food of out hot eat the food?
Mind blown. This video is gold
The Fabfilter Pro-C2 is aweful for setting parallel compression. A dry knob, a wet knob and final output where you have to click on the db digits. Tiny. To get equal loudness you first have to use wet knob for make up, followed by adjusting it again to compensate for the level of dry signal you add in. It’s horrible!
The EQ in this Scheps channel is quite special. It has a trait I’ve missed stepping away from hardware and that is that it’s hard to find a bad sound. I suspect carefully chosen bell shapes have a lot to do with that. When building a hardware EQ, one would put a lot of time into that detail and here is that same care in a plugin. Very impressed.
Hi Dan, i have a very interesting topic so like it would make for a great video if such thing exists Here's the setup I'm aiming for: - EQ Instance One: Placed before the input of Amp 1. - EQ Instance Two: Sidechains the sound of Amp 2 to EQ Instance One and EQ Instance Three. - EQ Instance Three: Placed after Amp 1 and sends feedback to EQ Instance One to match the sound of Amp 1 to Amp 2. I need an EQ VST that can handle the following process: EQ Instance One should iteratively adjust the EQ settings to account for the distortion and unique character of Amp 1, ensuring that the output sound of Amp 1 matches the target sound of Amp 2 as closely as possible. Disclaimer: I'm not looking for an amp sim with tone match. Do you know anything that fits these requirements? Or maybe another way of doing such a thing without spending weeks trying to recreate a tone? Im really stuck and frustrated :( haha
You are exceptional. The GOAT NO ARGUMENTS ALLOWED
Sad, sad news!
I tried really hard to dislike this plugin (as I have so many reverbs and didn't want to buy it!!). I tested it against all my UAD reverbs & QuantX by Relab (and various others). In the end I gave in and got it - WHAT A REVERB, superb. Thanks for your testing & thoughts Dan
Why the annoying background music???? I appreciate the content but its hard to isolate the nuisance of trying to focus hardly on the real lesson here
Jesus Dan they're already dead
Thank goodness for sense in this crazy youtube world full off fakers and demi-gods, keep it up Dan from an even older pair of ears who didn't suffer live work ear damage just swimpy studio work (still test as the ears of a 43 year old)
“That sounds like it’s grabbing a big chunk of my low end” So it bites you in the ass huh?
Hey Dan, love your channel, in this one you might have mentioned the Reaper work-around with the little mix knob in every fx window, so you can still do easy parallel compression with the Softube VCA compressor. In fact I never use the plug-in's mix knob, as I know Reaper's mix knob is always set up properly.
The Fusion is different from the plug-in components.
Lots of great advice here. However I'm about the same age and I'm not so sure I would produce dull mixes if I got back my teenage hearing. For starters I was much more prone to boosting the trebles when I was young than now and I see that from many young engineers at my workplace too. Also I suspect the brain to some extent compensates for the lost frequencies "internally" (kind of like an exciter adding overtones, in the brain) and that might even makes me more sensitive to treble. I mean, do I feel audio is dull nowdays, not really, so how come?
That compensation is exactly what I'm referring to. You've adjusted to the reduced high frequency content, that's now your normal. So if your youthful hearing were restored, you'd need time to adjust back, right?
Waves Schmase. I respected and trusted your work very much…..until you aligned yourself with Waves. I can only hope that their compensation is worth the cost. Waves plugins are decent at best, but their business model is pure garbage. You are a hero to many of us, but…….
Watched this yesterday and picked up Acon DeClick today. Wow, best DeClick I’ve ever used. This is going to be SUCH a time saver. So much more transparent than Izotope’s.
Your videos put me in such a good headspace to work, man. This is brilliant, THANK YOU!
28:43 what is that lift towards a lower ratio which occurs after the knee? There is some kind of allowance of reduced gain reduction and increased pass through of signal strength towards the right side of the graph. Is that effectively allowing the most strong signals to pass through at a level which is higher than the general gain reduction, such that it sounds more natural than if the loudest sounds had been fully compressed at the stated gain reduction level which had been applied to all the signals at a lower strength?
They just released a new channelstrip. Funny enough, it includes a drive knob (supposed to emulate the jensen tranny), they responded to every comment on that video except to mine where i asked if it's still the same eq 😂
Prayers for you, sir.
Thanks for great tips and excellent information!
Thanks :)
I feel a bit stupid when I watch this video. But I watched the whole thing anyway. I felt the same way when I watched "Tenet."
Can i load my IRs reverb with this, like in Reverberat3?? Is this feature present?
No. Perhaps there's some way to hack it to play different IRs, haven't tried. But there's lots of other plugins that can do that.
With a name like BM-60, I’d think there’d be a button that engages a 160db boost at 3 hz.
The highs sound very aliased and rough...
Hey Dan, sorry for comment on wrong video :) but i have question about ableton group tracks, why reverb as a send on group track less effective
Less effective than what? I don't understand the question.
❤️😹
